This time of year is meant to be spent with loved ones, but that doesn’t always mean you want to spend that time in a car. We completely understand that, which is why we want to share our top three tips to stay safe this holiday season so you can get to your destination and out of the car as soon as possible.

Top 3 Holiday Road Trip Safety Tips

  1. Be Prepared – If you plan to take a trip this holiday season, it’s a good idea to schedule a service appointment and get the car checked out to ensure it’s in the best condition possible. Tires with good tread are important for traction, which can be compromised when driving on snow or ice covered roads. Be sure to have the tires properly inflated before hitting the road.
  2. Be Alert – Once you’ve hit the road, you’ll need to be on your A game. Traffic will be heavy because everyone has the same idea as you – get to family and friends in a warm, cozy house as soon as possible. Times like these are when it’s most important to stay focused because heavy traffic can require a quick response time. Be sure to check your blind spots often or utilize any driver assistance features you may have available.
  3. Be Relaxed – We know it’s easier said than done, but the holidays are supposed to be a time for peace and relaxation. Driving during this time of year can definitely be stressful, so it’s important to have a good night’s rest before you start your trip. Be sure to plan the trip ahead as much as possible and even print off directions to keep yourself on track. This way you’ll be able to focus on the road and keep the entire family safe.

These three holiday road trip safety tips are definitely not groundbreaking information. The suggestions are all things we’ve been taught in the past, but sometimes it’s good to have a reminder because we want everyone to stay safe behind the wheel this holiday season and beyond.
