FCA, which is the umbrella company that includes Chrysler, Fiat, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles, as well as a few luxury models, has created a distinctive hierarchy for their models. Those looking for off-roading power should usually opt for a Jeep, while truck shoppers will be delighted by the options on a Ram pickup. In this lineup, the Dodge brand delivers some of the best power and performance. But some Dodge models (and a couple Jeeps as well) go the extra mile when it comes to power and handling. These options have an “SRT” in their name. But what does SRT mean on Dodge vehicles?

What does SRT mean on Dodge vehicles?
The SRT in the name of Dodge vehicles like the Challenger, Charger, and Durango, and recently on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, stands for Street and Racing Technology. This was originally a division of FCA that focused on producing the best performance-optimized technology for, you guessed it, both street and track driving and racing. This group was originally created to design, build and test the technology and features that made the Dodge Viper the speed-demon that it is. Today, several vehicles bear the SRT name.
How many SRT vehicles are there?
Over the decades there have been many makes and models that have proudly carried the SRT designation. As of the 2017 and 2018 model year, we know of seven vehicles with the SRT guarantee of performance. They are:
- Dodge Challenger SRT
- Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
- Dodge Challenger SRT Demon (new for 2018)
- Dodge Charger SRT
- Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat
- Dodge Durango SRT (new for 2018)
- Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT
There is also a new 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody model that may either count at a subtrim of the Challenger Hellcat, or as its own SRT model. It combines some features newly released on the Dodge Demon with the powertrain of the Hellcat.
