What is Hyundai’s luxury car?
Until 2015 and the 2016 model year, the Hyundai Genesis was the luxury car of the Hyundai brand. This luxury sedan offered premium comfort and features, but it was designated a Hyundai vehicle ever since its creation in 2004. In November 2015, Hyundai announced that Genesis was going to become a stand-alone luxury sub-brand. By 2020, luxury shoppers should be able to select between six different Genesis models, including three sedans, a coupe, and two SUV options. For the 2017 model year, the Hyundai Genesis ceased to exist and the Genesis G80 and Genesis G90 models came to be.
Genesis G90
The Genesis G90 was the first model to be released under the Genesis brand, and it is considered the flagship model, like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The G90 is midsize sedan with a choice of two engine options, topping out at 420 horsepower and 382 pound-feet of torque. Features like select-able driving modes and a 22-way powered driver’s seat are standard on all models.
Genesis G80
The Genesis G80 is a midsize luxury sedan. Standard features include select-able driving modes and advanced driver assistance features. Advantages like Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alerts, Lane Keeping Assist, and Smart Cruise Control are all standard. Engine output ranges from 311 horsepower to 420 horsepower.
