Lexus, Toyota Top 2017 Dependability Study

The J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study tracks vehicles over several years to see which ones have the fewest issues and offer the most long-term value for drivers.  But what is the most dependable car for 2017? We are very pleased to know that Toyota and Lexus vehicles (like those in our extensive pre-owned inventory) offer top dependability. The 2014 Toyota Camry was named the most dependable vehicle over these last three year, while other Toyota and Lexus models also excelled.

What is the most dependable car for 2017?

In the 2017 J.D Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, the Toyota Camry was the overall winner. Since the 2014 Camry was released, it was the model with the fewest owner-reported problems to date. Obviously, it also had the best dependability record in its midsize car segment.

Indeed the Toyota brand as a whole ranked the highest among non-luxury models (though you could argue that some Toyota models are solidly in the entry-level luxury category). Seven Toyota models took first place in their segments in this award. Lexus also took the highest ranking among all nameplates. This is the sixth year in a row that the Lexus luxury line has reigned supreme when it comes to dependability.

What Lexus and Toyota vehicles won for dependability?

All together, Lexus and Toyota won ten segment award in the 2017 J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study. The winners were:

Toyota: Camry (Midsize Car, overall); FJ Cruiser (Compact SUV), Prius (Compact Car); Venza (Midsize SUV); Avalon (Large Car); Prius v (Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle), Sienna (Minivan)

Lexus: GS (Midsize Premium Car); RX (Midsize Premium SUV)
